Puget Sound Scuba Diving in Style

Our boat the Deep Insight is a 44' Custom sport fisherman design. It originated in 1991 as a 40' hull design by Pacemaker marine out of New Jersey. Before Pacemaker could finish the project, however, they declared bankruptcy. It was then that the original owners of the boat retained the rights to the hull and had it shipped to the Puget Sound area where they commissioned Cap Sante of Anacortes, WA to finish the project. They added 4' to the cockpit area creating more deck space. Additionally, the propellers and rudders were placed further forward, away from the diving area. They installed two commercial Cummins 6CTA - 8.3m 400 break horse power diesel engines attached to two Twindisc hydraulic transmissions, 2" stainless steel shafts and dual 26" brass propellers. For the electrical plant they added an Onan 8kw generator.

The boat was finally completed in 1995 and spent most of her time in the area of the San Juan's and Canadian Gulf Islands. It was then purchased by our company in July of 2003 to be used for Scuba Diving and Sightseeing Charters. We have since added a much larger dive platform, two center post dive ladders, a warm freshwater shower for rinsing people and gear outside, and a lower control station for docking and live dives. We also painted the main part of the boat's bottom black and the area around the propellers, rudders and other entanglements white to remind divers to avoid these areas.

We have a full electronics package for navigation, heated cabin area with lots of seating, a full galley, a full head (toilet, sink and a large shower) as well as a forward cabin for crew use. Last (but certainly not least) we have a 10' RIB dinghy with a 15hp motor that can be launched in under 5 minutes.
